# Foundation

The inception of the Satochain Blockchain sprang from a deep appreciation of the necessity for diversifying the Bitcoin network. Bitcoin's scripting language, in contrast to Ethereum's smart contract capabilities, is notably simpler and provides limited functionality. Acknowledging this, Satochain Blockchain was conceptualized and developed as an advanced application layer aimed at enhancing the variety of applications and use cases on the Bitcoin network. Our commitment extends beyond facilitating communication between applications; we also pioneer BTC cross-chain interaction. This innovation enables users to fluidly transfer BTC (from the Bitcoin network) and Wrapped Bitcoin (WBTC on Ethereum, Arbitrum) to the Satochain blockchain and back. This strategic fusion heralds a host of advantages for users, primarily by broadening their access to DeFi and other applications across these renowned blockchains.

By capitalizing on the stability and security inherent in the Bitcoin network, Satochain lays a robust foundation for the generation of cutting-edge applications. Furthermore, it advocates for a decentralized ecosystem that prioritizes user rights

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://satochain.gitbook.io/docs/introduction/foundation.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
